Top 5 Features of the Samsung Galaxy S8

Samsung recently launched the long anticipated flagship, Galaxy S8, on Wednesday, March 29th. It has significantly changed their design from the previous model, the Galaxy S7. Here are some new features that I am most excited about

1. 10 nm processor 

Samsung didn't specify the 10 nm processor, it going to be either the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip or Samsung's own Exynos 8895 depending on region. Samsung claims the new chips will have a 10% CPU and 21% GPU boost from the last generation.

2. 5.8 / 6.2-inch display 

With a bigger display, cool slim black bezzles, and edge sides, watching videos or movies will be on a whole different level. I personally think 6.2-inch display is too large to handle, 5.8 is already big enough. 

3. Iris-scanner 

This technology will be Samsung's second time to put it on their device, the last one was the Note 7. With the iris scanning along with many other features, Note 7 was named the best smartphone of 2016 by many reputable reviewers. If you are wondering of falsifying other's identity, think no more, this can't be tricked by a photo.

4. Bixby

Bixby is the new AI assistant developed by Samsung, however, Galaxy S8 will also come with Google Assistant. These two AI assistants are supposed to work together and fill out each other's drawbacks. Which a lot of people are confused, and think Bixby is replacing Google Assistant. 

Bixby will have a more conversation based experience, it tracks user's health progress, interested news and so on. You can take a picture and Bixby can search it on Amazon. Bixby is still in early stages, not many details have been revealed. 

For me, I type faster than I speak, so I rarely use AI assistants. This is why Bixby is way down in 4th place on this list. Galaxy S8 even has a dedicated button for Bixby under the volume buttons, it better can change to other purposes, because I wouldn't use it a lot.

5. USB Type C

USB-C isn't anything new in the Android market, but it is the first in the Galaxy line. What more can I say? Reversible plug in with Qualcomm Quick charge will definitely make your life much easier. 

Samsung or Qualcomm haven't given any information on Quick charge. The latest Quick charge version is supposed to debut on the Galaxy S8, Qualcomm claims 5 minutes of charge will bring 5 hours of use late last year. I really hope it is true, and it will be on the Galaxy S8. Older version of Quick charge took 30 minutes to get 80% of the battery, already miles faster than Apple's Lighting, OnePlus's Dash.

• Bluetooth 5.0 - better connection, longer range, connect with multiple devices.
• Facial recognition - fastest unlock, can be tricked by a photo
• On screen keys - with tactile feedback acts like a physical button, cool design

Many Things Wrong With 2016 MacBook Pro Part 2

This might become a little series, since (as the title stats) there are many things wrong with 2016 MacBook Pro. I know most people don't want to see my ranting and spread negative energies. But what I am showing you now just doesn't add up.

Take a look:

Take a good look at this, make sure you are seeing what I have underlined and circled. 

Yes that's right, that's a freaking computer with dual-core i5 and 8 GB of RAM selling for $2,000

Last time a i5 that has a dual-core was back in 2010! 

Also, when a computer that cost up to $2,000, people expects at least 16 GB of RAM, not a 8GB. And what annoys me more is that better RAMs doesn't even cost much more. 

Besides that, you may argue the SSD is expansive, I agree. For 500GB, it costs $315

All the expansive components added up, it's only $510

All the prices are from Amazon.com, the parts are all after-market, so a company like Apple sell mass-produced computers, it is most likely to be much cheaper than $510. 

This is clearly unacceptable.

Many Things Wrong With 2016 MacBook Pro

Before I begin, I know the Microsoft Event held a day before the Apple Event, I will cover that too. But I am furious about Apple's price to performance ratio and other features. Also, the following you may not understand, but you need to understand how dirty Apple is.

First let's talk about the major spec difference from the previous generations. Apple finally added a discrete GPU in it's laptops. If you don't know, there are two different types of GPU, integrated and discrete. Basically integrated (combined with CPU) is for ultrabook, and discrete (separate from CPU) is for power user. In the case of this MacBook Pro, it is using AMD 460 GPU.

For the past 3 to 5 years, AMD is pretty much dead in computer graphics despite it's success with their budget GPU in PlayStation and Xbox. Few months ago, when the 460 card launched, they said they are going to "work closely" with computer companies, but the promise never delivered (except for Apple)

Instead, companies like HP, Lenovo, Razer, MSI, ASUS etc ditched AMD and decided to work with Nvidia, which is THE king of high-end GPU. If you research or ask someone who learned computer engineering the difference between Nvidia and AMD, you'll find that Nvidia's top end graphics card performance is at least 5 to 7 times better AMD's top end.

Nvidia GPUs that are better than AMD 460 are 1060, 1070, 1080, Titan X Pascal, which can be found in other companies' computers that I mentioned before.

Also, AMD said their card is the budget card for the greater good. But since companies refuse to use it's cards due to it's poor performance, so there's only Apple left, and Apple can price it whatever it wants and force to ruin AMD's reputation of budget. (dirty business)

If you don't have any idea on building a computer, here is a comparison: Razer Blade 2016 edition (check out here) which has a better performance with same build quality, but sells only around $2000.

All I am trying to convince is stop using Apple products, I acknowledge that Apple did some revolutionary things before. But that was ages ago, now they are just copying technologies that existed for years and putting a premium price on them with many misleading advertisements all across the internet.

No Man's Sky is Being Investigating for False Advertising

No Man's Sky came out in early August with a triple A title's price tag, $60!!! More and more complaints have been made due to the overwhelming amount of bugs and oversights made by a small studio, Hello Games.

The overall review on this game in Steam is only 33% positive, and that's not even the worst part. The review is going no where but down, in recent 30 days, only 13% positive.

Even Steam put out their refund policy out on No Man's Sky store page to remind people that they can fully refund a game as long as you played the under 2 hours within 2 weeks.

Going back to the title, most player and press believes that the game lacked so many features that they promised. Now UK-based Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is launching an investigation into those disparities.

Opinion on Artificial Intelligence - aka A.I.

Artificial intelligence is one of the hottest topics in recent years, as well as, one of the most valuable technologies ever. Just in case you are not familiar with AI: it is a type of intelligence that is exhibited by machines, in computer science it is a rational agent that can take curtain actions due to it's given environment to maximize its chance of success; AI can also mimic human minds, such as learning and problem solving.

I got this idea for a post after I saw my father reading a New York Times' article about AI when I was passing by him at our house. So I quickly said, "I hate Artificial Intelligence." Then my father responded kind of aggressively, "If you are in to technology, you have to accept the newest great innovation" (I forgot the exact words, but basically that) Then our conversation basically ended there, because I was busy doing something else.

You might wondering why I hate AI, especially when companies like Facebook and Google are investing millions or billions into AI studies. Even when programs such as Siri from Apple, and Cortana from Microsoft are increasingly popular in everyday life. As I stated before, AI is basically a master mind that is designed to think like a human and replace human minds. I feel we as human beings are getting more vulnerable against these machines, just look at Google's AlphaGo victory against Go genius Lee Sedol. You can check out the full news coverage here.

This kind of technology sounds really helpful at first, but we shouldn't create something that is smarter than all of us. By the time that happens, we will be stupid and AI will be essential part of our lives, then the future will depend on machines. That will be a total disaster, because machines with AI will start to disobey people. With a "mind" smarter than human's should have the intelligence to stop following and listening to someone who is dumber.
